Curriculum for Excellence with an outdoor twist!

Like all other registered nurseries Wee Wild Sparks follows Curriculum for Excellence and will ensure your child is building skills in literacy, numeracy, health and well being and the other five curriculum areas.

The natural environment lends itself perfectly to the early years curriculum, providing the ideal environment for child led learning through both structured and unstructured play. Each child is free to follow their curiosity, at their own pace, with thoughtful interventions and guidance from skilled staff to extend and consolidate their learning.

Our daily routine incorporates songs and stories to build children's literacy; practical tasks such as fire making that develop mathematical concepts of shape and size; countless opportunities to build self-care skills through the putting on and taking off of layers; and endless real-life science experiments as children mix mud, watch water evaporate, witness plants growing, observe the sun moving across the sky, feel their heart rate increase and sense changing textures beneath their feet.

We are even getting ourselves up to date with the latest technology and have evolving plans to use hand held devices (in measured doses!) to enhance, review and consolidate children's learning.
